Junior Amahoro Criterium 2025
During my time shooting Race Around Rwanda, I had the privilege of capturing an incredible junior criterium race that showcased Rwanda’s rising cycling stars. These young athletes were nothing short of remarkable, racing with a passion and determination that was truly inspiring.
The day was blisteringly hot, but the energy on the course was electric. Every lap was fueled by cheers from a crowd brimming with pride and hope. Their support spoke volumes about the growing cycling culture here—one rooted in resilience and community.
Rwanda, like much of Africa, is home to an immense pool of young cycling talent. What these athletes need are more opportunities to race professionally and step onto the world stage, where they clearly belong.
This September, Rwanda will host the UCI Road Cycling World Championships—the first time the event will take place on African soil. With talent like this, it’s not just a celebration of the sport’s future but a signal to the world: Africa’s time in cycling has arrived.
